Materials sector dominates TASI trading in first quarter of 2024

Three men have been arrested by Canadian police in connection with the killing of Sikh separatist Hardeep Singh Nijjar in Vancouver last year. The murder led to a diplomatic crisis between Canada and India, with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau suggesting Indian government involvement. Three Indian nationals, aged 22 and 28, have been charged with first degree murder and conspiracy. Nijjar, who advocated for a separate Sikh state, was shot dead by masked assailants in 2023. Canadian police are still investigating possible ties of the suspects to the Indian government. In a separate incident, a US Justice Department charged an Indian citizen with plotting an assassination attempt on American soil, allegedly involving an Indian government official. Canada is home to a significant Sikh population, with some calling for an independent state of Khalistan.
