Stock market today: Live updates

U.S. stock futures showed little change on Friday following a strong performance by the Dow Jones Industrial Average, which achieved its longest winning streak since December. Dow futures rose by 0.1%, while S&P 500 and Nasdaq 100 futures also saw modest gains.

Wall Street had a positive session with the Dow advancing by 0.85%, marking its seventh consecutive day of gains. The S&P 500 closed above 5,200 for the first time since April, while the Nasdaq Composite rose by 0.27%.

Investor optimism has been boosted by the Federal Reserve’s indication that interest rates are likely to remain stable, as well as a strong earnings season and positive labor data. Chief investment officer Chris Hyzy expressed confidence in the current market conditions.

Stocks were on track for a winning week, with the Dow up by 1.8% and the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite higher by 1.7% and 1.2% respectively.

Several central bank officials are scheduled to speak, including Fed presidents from Dallas, Minneapolis, and Chicago, as well as Fed Governor Michelle Bowman. Additionally, May consumer sentiment data is expected to show a slight decrease to 76.0 from 77.2.
