Bitcoin mining causing health issues in Texas residents

Texas is quickly becoming a Bitcoin mining hub, with 10 out of the 34 major Bitcoin mines in the United States located in the state. The appeal of Texas for Bitcoin miners lies in its low energy costs, deregulated power grid, and access to renewable energy sources. Companies like Marathon Digital and Hut 8 have moved their mining operations to Texas due to these factors.

However, the influx of Bitcoin miners in Texas has had negative effects on local residents. Reports have surfaced of residents experiencing hearing issues, headaches, dizziness, and sleep disturbance. Noise levels from Bitcoin miners have been recorded as high as 91 decibels, which can cause long-term hearing damage. Some residents have been diagnosed with hearing loss due to the noise.

In addition to hearing issues, residents have also reported sleep disturbances, dizziness, vertigo, and fainting spells. These health issues are particularly concerning for older residents. The conflict between the economic interests of Bitcoin mining and the quality of life of Texas residents highlights the need for comprehensive policy solutions to address these issues.
