South Korean Mart Dishes Up Bitcoin-Themed Meal Packs with Crypto Exchange Bithumb

A South Korean convenience store chain, Emart24, has partnered with the popular cryptocurrency exchange Bithumb to introduce Bitcoin Meal packs. These unique meal boxes offer customers a chance to win small amounts of Bitcoin, adding a crypto element to their lunch routine.

Around 30,000 Bitcoin Meal packs will be available for purchase at Emart24 stores by the end of the month, priced at 5,900 Korean won (USD $4.30) each. Customers can simply buy a meal pack, download the Bithumb app, and enter a coupon code inside the box for a chance to win 10,000 won worth of Bitcoin. An additional 20,000 won worth of Bitcoin will be given to those who create a Bitcoin account with NH Nonghyup Bank. Existing Bithumb users can connect their accounts to claim their rewards.

Bithumb, a member of the Digital Asset Exchange Association (DAXA) in South Korea, is a key player in the country’s crypto market. Despite delays in its IPO plans, the exchange aims to become the first crypto exchange listed on the South Korean stock market.

In recent years, South Korea has tightened its regulations on cryptocurrencies, imposing stricter penalties for crypto-related crimes and introducing new regulatory guidelines. By the fourth quarter of 2023, financial authorities in South Korea require cryptocurrency users to report any unlicensed exchanges operating in the country. Nevertheless, the collaboration between Emart24 and Bithumb highlights the growing acceptance and use of cryptocurrency in South Korea’s economy.
