Saudi Arabia’s building materials sector investment hits $89.5bn

In a recent interview at the Future Hospitality Summit, Oliver Wood, senior director of Destination Development at Red Sea Global, emphasized that the sporting activities available in the Red Sea and AMAALA go beyond just water-based activities. Wood highlighted that the destinations offer over 50 activities for visitors, including diving experiences through Galaxea, water activities through WAMA, and adventure sports through Akun.

Wood explained the significance of the land activities offered in the Red Sea and AMAALA, such as biking, hiking, and the use of electric fat bikes. He praised the efforts of the Saudi Sailing Federation and the Saudi Water Sports and Diving Federation in promoting water sports in the Kingdom.

One of the major attractions in the destination is the availability of e-foils, which are electrified surfboards that allow visitors to glide above the water without friction. Wood also mentioned the opportunity to kayak through mangroves and explore the well-preserved reefs in the area.

Wood emphasized the importance of Galaxea not just as a diving brand, but as a means to help visitors appreciate the beauty and value of nature. The RSG brand Corallium, a marine life institute, aims to educate travelers on protecting and preserving water ecosystems. Corallium also offers guests the opportunity to walk underwater, snorkel with rare species, and participate in lab tours.

RSG is working towards offering Red Sea and AMAALA destinations to people in both the luxury and middle-range categories. Wood highlighted the value and accessibility of the destinations, ensuring that everyone can enjoy the unique experiences offered. He teased upcoming developments that will further enhance the visitor experience in the region.
