Ripple CTO and Cardano exec trade barbs over ‘ETHGate’ and more

In a recent clash between cryptocurrency heavyweights, Ripple’s CTO, David Schwartz, and Cardano’s co-founder, Charles Hoskinson, engaged in a heated debate regarding the regulatory influence of Ethereum on Ripple’s XRP. The discussion spiraled into allegations of a conspiracy within the Ethereum community influencing regulatory decisions pertaining to XRP.

The controversy, dubbed ‘ETHgate,’ raised concerns about potential favoritism from the SEC towards Ethereum. Hoskinson refuted these claims, emphasizing the lack of concrete evidence to support such theories.

Schwartz countered Hoskinson’s remarks by highlighting the potential financial interests of former SEC official William Hinman in Ethereum. The debate escalated with accusations of spreading false information.

This clash is not the first between Schwartz and Hoskinson, as they previously clashed over interpreting remarks made by Hinman, sparking the ‘ETHgate’ controversy. The debate revolves around Ethereum’s alleged influence on regulatory decisions concerning XRP.

Despite the ongoing dispute, there has been no direct impact on the price action of XRP or ADA. XRP experienced a 2.15% increase, ADA saw a 1.08% jump, while ETH fell by 0.32% in the past 24 hours.

The outcome of this dispute remains uncertain, with potential implications for the future of cryptocurrencies still unresolved.
