NV Energy customer bills increasing amid extreme heat

Nevadans are experiencing higher energy bills due to the record-breaking heat this summer. One family reported a $200 bill in June, with costs increasing over the years. NV Energy’s vice president of customer operations, Antoine Tilmon, explains that the increased usage to cool homes is driving up bills. During extreme heat, a weather moratorium is in place, preventing disconnections for nonpayment. NV Energy recommends enrolling in programs like Flex Pay and Equal Pay, as well as utilizing MyAccount on their website to monitor energy usage and expenses. Tilmon advises keeping the thermostat a few degrees above comfort level to save on cooling costs. Additional tips include keeping a fan on and installing a smart thermostat to manage energy bills effectively.
