Kospi opens higher on large cap gains

Stocks opened higher on Monday, following the positive trend on Wall Street last week. The Kospi rose by 0.51 percent to 2,669.93 in the first 15 minutes of trading. This increase mirrors the gains seen in the Dow Jones Industrial Average, which closed 0.4 percent higher on Friday, and the Nasdaq, which surged by 2.03 percent.

In Seoul, most large cap stocks were in positive territory. Samsung Electronics and SK hynix saw gains of 0.39 percent and 0.22 percent, respectively. LG Chem experienced a significant surge of 4.55 percent, while Celltrion, a pharmaceutical manufacturer, added 1.87 percent. However, Hyundai Motor saw a decrease of 1.4 percent, while Kia Motors gained 0.25 percent.

The local currency was trading at 1,377.35 won against the U.S. dollar, up 2.05 won from the previous session’s close. Overall, the market seems to be reacting positively to the recent performance on Wall Street.

DailyBubble’s perspective: It is encouraging to see the stock market opening on a positive note, reflecting the strength of the global market. Investors should continue to monitor market trends and stay informed to make well-informed decisions.
