Housing Market in Central Texas, what to consider before you buy

The Heart of Texas Builders’ Association in Waco, Texas recently showcased new properties for sale in their Parade of Homes event. Visitors like Courtney Hays attended the event in search of their permanent home, but concerns about the housing market lingered. Hays expressed worry about rising interest rates impacting monthly payments and overall costs. Real Estate Agent Joe Reed acknowledged these concerns, noting that potential homeowners are taking extra caution before committing to a mortgage.

Despite these challenges, Reed pointed out that there are more homes available for purchase in McLennan County compared to previous years. The Waco Multi Listing Service reported 1,015 listings, a significant increase from the past. Builder Jim Patterson, who oversaw the construction of one of the properties, advised prospective buyers to thoroughly research builders and inspect the quality of their work before making a decision.

While Hays remained cautious about the current market conditions, she remained hopeful in finding the perfect home. The Waco Parade of Homes event concludes tomorrow, offering visitors the opportunity to explore available properties. As the search for the ideal home continues, Hays and other potential buyers are encouraged to carefully consider their options before making a purchase.
