Family-friendly Energy Expo runs Saturday morning in Driggs

The Fall River Rural Electric Cooperative Energy Expo and Business Meeting will take place at Teton High School in Driggs on Saturday from 8 to 11 a.m. Families can enjoy a variety of activities and science exhibitions throughout the event.

Kids can look forward to bounce houses, cotton candy, a climbing wall, bucket rides, and STEM activities. The first 400 children and youth under 18 who participate in five or more STEM activities will receive a free school backpack. All members of the cooperative will also receive a complimentary energy conservation kit.

The event starts with a breakfast from 8 to 10 a.m. for cooperative members. Attendees can enjoy pancakes, bacon, sausage, eggs, hash browns, and a drink of their choice.

High-voltage electrical safety demonstrations will be performed by linemen, and participants can enter a drawing to win a Husqvarna professional chainsaw. The expo will feature vendors from the energy and health sectors.

Following the expo, the cooperative will hold its annual business meeting, which includes financial and activity reports, scholarship announcements for high school seniors, and the election results for the Board of Directors.

Members can vote in person at the expo until 10 a.m. The candidates for the Board of Directors are listed by district. Winners will be announced during the meeting.

Attendees have the chance to win prizes, including a grand prize of a $1,000 energy credit and a 65-inch big-screen TV. After the expo and meeting, Idaho Fish and Game will host a free fishing day at Trail Creek Pond, east of Victor.

The event promises a fun-filled day for families in Teton Valley. The cooperative, which is 85 years old, encourages members to bring their children and grandchildren along to enjoy the activities.
