B.C. store owner saves senior from falling prey to Bitcoin scam – BC

A business owner in White Rock, B.C., recently prevented a senior citizen from falling victim to a scam. Priya Badesha, co-owner of the Red Rooster Food Store, noticed an elderly man looking frustrated as he tried to use a Bitcoin machine in her store on June 5. When she realized the man was being instructed by someone on the phone to pretend he was speaking to his financial adviser, Badesha intervened. She discreetly called the White Rock RCMP non-emergency line, and officers arrived promptly. The suspected scammer hung up when police requested to speak to him. Badesha emphasized the importance of being cautious with Bitcoin transactions, as scammers often try to deceive people into sending them money. She shared her experience to raise awareness and help others avoid falling prey to similar schemes. White Rock RCMP advised individuals to hang up or delete any messages demanding money. Badesha expressed her willingness to continue assisting others and emphasized the satisfaction of protecting people from financial loss.
