Budget 2024: Healthcare industry leaders demand increase in allocation, emphasise on strengthening infra – Budget 2024 News

The upcoming Union Budget 2024, to be announced by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman next month, has sparked expectations in the healthcare sector. Industry leaders are hoping for a significant increase in the overall health budget to address existing gaps comprehensively. Bhanu Prakash Kalmath S J, Partner at Grant Thornton Bharat, emphasized the need for the health budget to reach at least 3 percent of GDP to strengthen rural healthcare infrastructure and expand the reach of Ayushman Bharat, ultimately reducing out-of-pocket medical expenses and ensuring Universal Health Coverage.

Kalmath also stressed the importance of preventive healthcare, highlighting the significance of increased funding for sanitation and nutrition programs, as well as continued focus on non-communicable diseases through targeted interventions and awareness campaigns. Embracing technology for early detection and improved access to specialists is seen as essential for unlocking the full potential of the healthcare system.

Girish Korde, Founder & Director of Sunrise Oncology Centre, echoed the sentiment for increased budget allocation towards healthcare. He emphasized the need for improving healthcare infrastructure in remote areas and ensuring the availability of skilled manpower. Technology was also highlighted as a key component, especially in addressing manpower shortages through remote monitoring, healthcare delivery, access to experts, and digital health records.

Korde emphasized the shift towards focusing on “health” care rather than “disease” care, stressing the importance of preventive care, particularly for India’s young population. He also called for increased penetration of schemes like Ayushman Bharat to ensure more people have access to insurance coverage. Overall, the industry is hopeful that the upcoming budget will prioritize these crucial areas, paving the way for a healthier India. The Importance of Regular Exercise for Overall Health

Regular exercise is crucial for maintaining good overall health. It not only helps in improving physical fitness but also has a positive impact on mental health. Exercise is known to reduce the risk of chronic diseases such as heart disease, diabetes, and obesity. Additionally, it can boost immunity, improve sleep quality, and increase energy levels.

Physical activity has been linked to improved mood and reduced symptoms of anxiety and depression. This is because exercise stimulates the release of endorphins, also known as “feel-good” hormones, which can help in reducing stress and improving mental well-being.

Incorporating regular exercise into your routine doesn’t have to be complicated or time-consuming. Even a brisk walk, a short workout session, or a few minutes of stretching can make a difference. The key is consistency and finding activities that you enjoy and can stick with in the long term.

Remember that it’s never too late to start reaping the benefits of regular exercise. Consult with a healthcare provider or a fitness professional to determine the best exercise plan for your individual needs and goals. Start slowly, listen to your body, and gradually increase the intensity and duration of your workouts.

In conclusion, regular exercise is essential for maintaining good overall health. It can improve physical fitness, mental well-being, and reduce the risk of chronic diseases. Make exercise a priority in your daily routine and enjoy the numerous benefits it has to offer.
