ConsenSys Announces SEC Closure of Ethereum 2.0 Inquiry

The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission has concluded its investigation into Ethereum 2.0, as announced by cryptocurrency firm ConsenSys. ConsenSys had previously filed a lawsuit against the SEC’s regulation of the Ethereum blockchain.

ConsenSys founder Joseph Lubin praised the SEC’s decision as a significant victory for Ethereum. He emphasized the need for clear and fair regulations to foster innovation in the cryptocurrency space.

Despite the SEC’s decision, ConsenSys plans to proceed with its lawsuit to challenge the SEC’s authority to regulate user-controlled software interfaces on Ethereum.

The SEC has not commented on the investigation. In a surprising move, the SEC approved applications from Nasdaq, CBOE, and NYSE to list spot Ether ETFs, marking a win for the cryptocurrency industry.
